The Beetle has been an iconic Volkswagen since its original inception in the early half of the 20^th century. The all-new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle marks only the second time in the car's history that it's undergone a complete redesign. Those of us at Gurley Leep Motors have fallen in love with this classic German car all over again. And, we're not the only ones.

Who better to give away one of the most iconic cars in history than one of the most iconic talk show hosts? Well, nearly a year ago now, the new Beetle shape debuted on the Oprah Winfrey show as part of her "Ultimate Favorite Things" series. And then she gave all 276 audience members exclusive rights to the very first 2012 VW Beetles to roll into American dealerships.

It may have been a long wait, but on October 13^th of this year, the all-new 2.5L 6-Speed automatic Beetle showed up at dealerships across the country. And over 125 Volkswagen dealers got to hand over the keys to all of those lucky audience members.

Like us, you probably have a few guesses as to why the car was chosen as one of Oprah's favorite things. But we prefer to let Volkswagen of America CEO, Jonathan Browning, field this one. He says, "The 2012 Beetle is an American icon that has been redesigned to fulfill the needs of the modern driver, while remaining true to its vintage characteristics.
